Sick Leave Excusal (SLE) applications
What you need to know
Someone who contracts a disease or is injured whilst on duty may qualify for sick leave excusal.
If Sick Leave Excusal (SLE) is granted; all sick leave relating to that injury, disease or work-related stress is removed from your sick leave record for sick pay purposes up to a maximum of 182 days (six months) and excluded from consideration under Unsatisfactory Attendance Procedures. For staff in the NPS Directorate, sick pay is paid in accordance with the National Agreement on Pay and Terms and Conditions.
If SLE is granted, the absence will still be recorded as a sickness absence for statistical purposes.
